Around 80 women took part in an early morning Mentoring Walk as part of the continued celebration of International Women’s Day.

Minister for Women, Mereseini Vuniwaqa highlighted that mentoring leads to leadership.

Vuniwaqa says it’s important to support other women as they climb the ranks of leadership.

She says this was sorely lacking when you look at the collective votes that female candidates received in the 2018 General Election.

Vuniwaqa adds she hopes this will change in future elections so that more women are represented in parliament.

Meanwhile, the Mentoring Walk teamed Mentor Women and Mentees for an hour walk along the Suva Foreshore.
