October 10, 2017 6:17 pm

Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says the implementation of the e-ticketing system has also revealed the exploitation experienced by some of the bus drivers.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the system has created a lot of transparency and a lot of cobwebs that were in the system has been revealed.

“There is one particular complaint that we have received, where a bus driver has not been paid for nearly ten years any FNPF etc but the he wasn’t event getting a pay slip. So now when he has gone and complained into the Ministry of Labour – ‘they said well bring your pay slip so we can follow up on this’ – ‘he said well I can’t do it because I don’t even have a pay slip’ – so he used to get paid cash on the side.”
