President for the Fiji Bus Operators Association Richard Lal says teething issues were expected with the roll out of the E-ticketing use from the 1st of this month.
Lal says a stakeholder meeting on Friday ironed out a lot of the issues and what each stakeholder will be doing to address them.
“There’s been wrong cards in wrong hands, money loading, I’m talking about school children at this point of time, that is been sorted out at this stage, I think people are using children’s cards for instance to pay bus fares, children using their money by having joy rides and not having money on the card to go to school, those are some of the challenges we are having.”
He adds it’s important that there continues to be awareness on the use of the E-ticketing system so that the Fijian public are clear on how it’s used.
To this end, Lal says Bus Operators will also be issuing stickers for their buses to assist commuters on the E-ticketing system.
