Jittu Estate dwellers in Raiwaqa will be given the first chance to own a unit in the second phase of the Lagilagi Housing.
National Director People’s Community Network, Semiti Qalowasa says this is a great opportunity and should be taken by people living in the Jittu squatter settlement
“That’s under the decision from cabinet but priority is given to Jittu estate so we are hoping that people in Jittu estate take this offer seriously because most of them don’t want to be part of the system and even now for the 76 units that we have already placed people in, 20 of those are still delay with their payments.”
Qalowasa says the second chance will be given to those living in Wailea squatter settlements in Vatuwaqa and the Muslim league settlement in Nabua.
He adds successful applicants will pay $40 per week for a two-bedroom house and $50 per week for a three-bedroom house.
The second phase of the Lagilagi Housing project is completed and is currently awaiting the approval from the Fire Authority and the Health and Safety officers.
