A thirty-four-year-old man and a sixteen-year-old juvenile appeared at the Nasinu Magistrates Court today, each charged with one count of impersonation and one count of obtaining financial advantage by deception.
Praveen Kumar and the juvenile were allegedly involved in a taxi permit scam.
The court heard on the 25th of this month, Praveen with intent to defraud Anand Sami falsely represented himself as Praneel, a person employed by the Land Transport Authority.
Kumar and his partner dishonestly obtained two thousand six hundred dollars cash from Sami promising to provide a taxi permit to him but failed to do so.
Kumar asked for bail but it was objected.
Kumar has been remanded and the juvenile has been released on bail.
The matter will be recalled on the 31st of this month.
