Drugs believed to be cocaine found in Lau

Nine parcels containing white substance believed to be cocaine were found on an island in the Lau group.

Police have confirmed the discovery was made yesterday.

Officers from the Organized Crime Unit who are currently in Lakeba conducting the investigation into the drug find earlier this month will be travelling to this island today.

Meanwhile, earlier this week a similar discovery was made in Taveuni.

The officers had received information on Monday and seven parcels containing substance believed to be cocaine were found.

This is a third similar discovery this month whereby identical parcels have been found washed ashore.

The Police are requesting the public to report any discovery by calling their nearest Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 919.
