Some driving schools have been found breaching their code of conduct especially on how they should operate.

The Fiji Driving School Association has confirmed some instructors do not complete the required hours of driving and theory courses for learners permit holders.

Association’s Central and Eastern President, Deo Narayan says all learners permit holders must complete the mandatory driving course even though they know how to drive beforehand.

“They come to our driving school and say no I know how to drive but that doesn’t allow us to do the wrong things. We still have to have to fill the book, do theory classes and like I’ve said they will have to look into the ten hour of practice to their driving school because it’s in the book but we are not doing that at the moment, only we are doing ten hour theory cases.”

Transport Minister, Parveen Kumar says driving schools play an important role in emphasizing road safety to new drivers.

Meanwhile, the association held its annual general meeting on Sunday -where driving schools were warned to hire driving instructors who have permit.

Failure to do so will result in a fine of five hundred dollars.
