The driver who is alleged to have been involved in a hit and run accident that claimed the life of a 41-year-old Police officer has been arrested.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says the victim was crossing at the Namaka traffic lights when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by a man in his 20s.

Naisoro adds that the vehicle was found abandoned at a hotel car park and the suspect’s identity was known to police.

The alleged incident occurred at around 11pm in Namaka, Nadi last night.

The victim died at the scene.

The road death toll currently stands at 41 compared to 59 last year.
