Drainage work worth $1.7m has been carried out

To date, the Ministry of Agriculture has carried out $1.7m in drainage works in non-sugar farms.

Minister responsible Dr. Mahendra Reddy says these include vegetables and root crops farms.

Dr Reddy says in the central division alone they have spent more than 700,000 dollars on drainage work.

“Central Division where we don’t have sugar the drainage work has been carried out in 48 locations with the total cost of 747,000 this includes more than 7,000 hours of machinery and involved more than 300 km of work.”

Dr Reddy says in the Western Division drainage work has been carried out on 38 farms.

The Minister was responding to an oral question asked by MP Vijendra Prakash for an update of drainage works currently being carried out by the Ministry.
