Drainage woes to be addressed in the North

Drainage systems that haven’t been working for years in and around the Labasa CBD will be fixed this financial year.

Minister for Waterways Dr Mahendra Reddy says they have significantly increased the budget allocation for Labasa Town Council.

Speaking at a consolation in Labasa, Dr Reddy says the allocation of $324,000 will allow the Council to undertake all and remaining drainage work in the municipal boundary.

He says already there are some project ongoing and they would like to see the funds utilized accordingly.

Dr Reddy adds, this is the same for most other municipal councils, where they have received an increased budget.

He says the Ministry also has an allocation for specific problems people have and they can tap into this by getting in touch with them.
