December 16, 2015 11:46 pm

The Education Ministry has today clarified there wasn’t a 100 per cent pass rate for Year 13 students as reported yesterday.

Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says he has stated that ‘none of the student failed,” – keeping in mind that all the students are eligible to enter University or the various technical colleges.

Dr Reddy says the marks that the students got demonstrate attainment and that it’s not about failure and pass.

“This is not failures we are talking about because every student that has completed Year 13 is eligible to be funded by TELS or get a scholarship as long as they are able to get into a particular program in the University or technical colleges.”

The Minister says this was done to ensure students who got low marks in particular subjects should not get demoralized because they still can go to University or technical colleges.

Dr Reddy says any student who wishes to have their marks recounted are welcome to do so and they are working hard to get results within two days.
