DPP to be consulted after investigations: ACP Brown

Police will consult with the Director of Public Prosecutions Office once a medical checkup and questioning of relatives concludes into the alleged case of the Facebook photo showing a child tied to a post.

Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Henry Brown, told FBC news they have also questioned and released the mother of the child.

He adds further investigations are continuing.

The post, which went viral, said that the child was supposed to babysit another child, and was being punished for biting the child’s hand.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Human Rights and Anti Discrimination Commission have urged members of the public to come forward with any such knowledge of child abuse.
