Any employer who will not practice the Labour law and pay their employees double time for any public holiday will be taken to task.

This was confirmed by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Chief Executive Joel Abraham on FBC TV’s election show last night.

Abraham says any employer who fails to pay their employee double time during election will be taken to task.

”I’m calling on to employees if employers are behaving in a unscrupulous manner, the first thing you have to do is report it. That will allow officers to come in to carry out investigation. If it happens to you, I’m sure it happened to someone else because it’s a business wide practice.”

The FCCC says they will closely monitor this issue for the protection of the employees in the country.
