It’s important for the Health Ministry to understand what the needs of the people are in order to enhance health services around the country.

Speaking at the 60th Annual Scientific Conference for the Fiji Medical Association, Health Minister Rosy Akbar says doctors should be at the forefront of quality improvement and quality service.

She adds that this can be done through consistent engagement and collaboration with Fijians.

“We are in a discussion to see how best people can be trained or how best they can be exposed to training internationally so that they can come back and serve the people.”

The Minister has also urged doctors to become good practitioners, educators and administrators – to do more to advocate for the prevention of non communicable diseases especially in their own communities.

Meanwhile, Akbar says infrastructure development for health facilities will continue, ensuring that it meets the demand from the public.
