Keeping valuables and large sums of money at home will make people easy targets for robbers says Director Operations – SSP Rusiate Tudravu.

The force has noted an increase in aggravated robberies especially in Nadi.

An elderly woman was robbed of $20,200 in cash and jewellery worth $30,000 yesterday.

“Most of these people have valuable items and large amounts of money. Despite our advice for them to deposit their money in the banks, they still opt to keep it with them and that is our concern.”

Tudravu says people should think again about where to keep valuables.

“To those who need to deposit large sums of money, there are Police officers who will be there to assist you to do it safely.”

The force is urging the public to report of any suspicious activity to their nearest community post.
