DISMAC distributes food

April 3, 2012 5:05 am

Food rations are being distributed to disaster stricken areas by DISMAC teams who are out in full force, assessing the situation left behind by the floods over the weekend.

This is the first time that DISMAC has resorted to sending rations out with their assessment teams.

DISMAC Director Patiliai Dobui says this is being done as scores of people in the west have run out of supplies.

“We found that most places are in need of rations so we have decided to send those rations out with our assessment teams and other ministries are also on standby to assist us with transport.”

DISMAC has also prioritised the distribution of water to areas that need it.

Two boats with water have been sent from Suva to supply hospitals and other essential services in the west.
