Disaster response personnel are prepared and ready to respond in the event of severe flooding or other effects caused by the Tropical Disturbance.
In a statement released in the last hour, National Disaster Controller and Permanent Secretary for National Disaster Management Meleti Bainimarama says they’re closely monitoring the situation.
He has advised the public to take extreme caution and regularly check for updates on Tropical Disturbance 04f which is expected to bring heavy rain and is likely develop into a Tropical Depression over the next 48 hours.
Parents have also been advised to closely monitor the whereabouts of children and keep them away from flooded drains or waterways.
He also advised that night time movements be limited as much as possible.
