A Digital Literacy Framework is now in place to teach young Fijians the basics of using computers and web based applications.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama launched the Framework this morning saying Fijians who grow up with knowledge of digital technology will be on par with the world and make successful entrepreneurs.
Under a pilot programme six schools will be provided laptops and tablets, internet access and computer literacy classes.
The Reach for Your Future Foundation was the driving force, negotiating between the Education Ministry and computer solutions company Hewlett Packard.
Computer classes will form a core study area eventually reaching all nine hundred schools in Fiji.
