Digital Literacy for Fiji students

The Ministry of Education is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Australia-based Reach for your Future Foundations to provide free Microsoft certification for computers used in schools.

A Digital Literacy pilot programme has been initiated at Natabua High School in Lautoka where more than one thousand students are benefitting.

Acting Permanent Secretary Education Basundra Kumar says the programme will ensure that students get the same access to technology that is available in schools around the world.

Primary and high school students will use a programme called Microsoft IT Academy that has an online curriculum.

The Foundation’s representative Ganesh Sen says it will enhance individual learning by students.

The Digital Literacy programme will be fully donor funded while the foundation is in the process of finalizing the financial support.
