Digicel to finalize details of special license for TV

December 8, 2015 5:38 pm

Telecommunications Company Digicel Fiji has received a draft of its special license for television from the government.

If Digicel agrees to the special conditions and terms, it effectively finalizes the purchase of Sky Pacific, a regional pay television service.

Digicel Fiji CEO Darren McLean says they have received documents – draft versions of the special conditions which need to be agreed too before proceeding.

He adds Digicel and the Communications Ministry are working together to clarify the conditions in detail and ensure that the intended transaction is in the best interest of all parties including Government, Digicel, and Sky Pacific customers.

Digicel made an offer to buy out Sky Pacific from Fijian Holdings Limited for just over five million dollars in September, but other than a deposit of a quarter of a million dollars the acquisition hasn’t progressed.
