Digicel receive special TV license

December 7, 2015 11:16 pm

Telecommunications Company Digicel Fiji has received its draft special license for television from the government.

If Digicel agrees to the special conditions and terms, this would effectively finalize their purchase of Sky Pacific, a regional pay television service.

Digicel Fiji CEO Darren McLean says they are currently working through the license stipulations and seeking clarifications from the Solicitor General on certain aspects.

McLean says once they complete an overview they will proceed further.

Digicel made an offer to buy out Sky Pacific operations from Fijian Holdings Limited for $5.75 million in September.

Other than a deposit of a quarter of a million dollars by Digicel, the acquisition has remained in limbo pending regulatory approval.
