Digicel expected to announce big buy out

Telecommunications company Digicel Group is expected to make an official announcement in the coming weeks on their latest acquisition in Fiji.

Digicel’s founder and billionaire, Denis O’Brien flew into the capital on Wednesday and held a series of meetings before jetting out later in the day.

FBC News has been reliably informed that the company is expected to buy out a Fijian owned regional subscriber television service based in Suva.

The company’s digital TV service Digicel Play in PNG earlier this week secured the NRL broadcast rights for the next two years.

This includes the rights to broadcast the NRL Premiership League, the state of origin series, the all stars match, the ANZAC test and the under 20’s competition.
