A 66-year-old dentist of Nadi today pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape and sexual assault in Suva High Court.
The accused has been charged with five counts of sexual assault and six counts of rape.
It is alleged that on June 28th, 2018, he raped his 53-year-old sister-in-law in her home in Nasinu.
It is alleged he asked the victim to rest at her home after attending a wedding in Suva and when she was inside her bedroom, the suspect knocked on her door and allegedly forced himself on her.
State Lawyer Swasti Sharma told the court that she would call four witnesses when the trial proper begins.
The matter has been adjourned till the 4th December, 2018 for a pre-trial conference.
The dates of the trial proper will be decided during the pre-trial conference.
Bail has been extended for the accused.
