Dengue outbreak declared for Nadi and Ba

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has declared an outbreak of dengue fever in Nadi and Ba.

A total of 312 confirmed cases have been recorded in the west with the majority being in Nadi and Ba.

The Ministry says the confirmed cases has continued to rise above the expected levels for this time of the year in the West.

Patient admissions is of a great concern with 51 being admitted at Ba Mission Hospital, and 54 at Nadi Sub-divisional Hospital, with 10 in Sigatoka, and 25 at Lautoka Divisional Hospital.

A total of 862 confirmed dengue cases have been recorded in Fiji from January to last Friday.

The Central division has recorded 41 confirmed dengue cases and Northern has recorded 509 confirmed dengue cases.
