Public consultations on developing a National Security Strategy will begin in the West tomorrow.

“Normally we refer to security here in Fiji that is handled by the Military or by the Police or even Immigration or Customs, but with the new emerging issues, we are looking at an inclusive approach to addressing this problem as I’ve said its impacted on the lives of individuals, than communities and villages and that’s how we’re looking at the new notion of security.”

Consultations are expected country-wide starting in Nadi tomorrow followed by Sigatoka, Lautoka, Ba and Rakiraki throughout this week.

The team will be in Vanua Levu next week for discussions in Nabouwalu, Labasa, Savusavu, and Taveuni before moving on to Levuka.
