Support the work of the Fiji Police Force, and stop the unwarranted attacks on the officers who are working tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

This is the plea being made by the Minister for Defense Inia Seruiratu to all Fijians in light of the rise in number of police attacks around the country.

Seruiratu says many have forgotten the important work conducted by the thousands of police officers all over Fiji, because of concerted campaigns by a few to dwell on the very few officers who had derailed from the course of their duties and their failure to uphold the law.

He also stressed that these officers have either been removed from the institution or are facing the consequences of their unlawful actions in a court of law, or are paying the price of their disobedience behind bars.

“Just to keep reminding them of the importance of their role and of course the need for them to be professional and disciplined as well of course we all have emotions but of course with self-discipline and commitment to the laws of the country we keep reminding the top management and senior leadership of the need to remain professional.”

The Minister condemned the attacks on Police officers questioning those who vocally criticize the Fiji Police Force who have been the quietest.

Seruiratu says Police Officers should be respected and as they put their lives on the line to protect Fijians.

He urged Fijians not to be swayed and influenced by the utterances of a few who focuses on the negative.
