Defence seeks more time in case of prominent lawyer

A prominent Suva lawyer alleged of being in possession of methamphetamine appeared before the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Shazran Abdul Lateef has been charged with one count of being in possession of illicit drugs.

Lateef was arrested on August 7th following a raid at a hotel in Suva.

Defence counsel sought time to make representation of the first phase of disclosures to Director of Public Prosecutions before the accused takes plea.

The matter will be recalled on October 2nd for plea.

Bail has been extended for the accused.
