Defence Minister tweets evacuation in Bali

The Minister of Defence and National Security, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has tweeted that guests needed to be evacuated overnight after Bali in Indonesia was hit with a 6.9 magnitude earthquake

Ratu Inoke tweeted that the evacuation from their Westin Hotel was activated after a series of powerful tremors.

The Defence Minister is in Bali for the Seventh Ministerial Conference on the Bali Process on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime.

The Bali Process is a forum comprising of Ministers from the Asia Pacific region responsible for security to discuss Government initiatives and other efforts made to combat modern slavery, human trafficking and forced labour including pertinent transnational crime challenges confronting developing States.

The two day conference which begins today will be attended by 45 member countries and 3 member organizations of the Bali Process, and a number of observing countries and organizations.

Ratu Inoke is accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Defence and National Security.
