Launching the project, chief guest Ratu Epeli Nailatikau says this is a great achievement for Fiji.

“The granting of three special prospecting licenses to the KORDI Minerals South Pacific Limited is a milestone event as it marks the first ever prospecting licenses issued for deep sea mineral exploration in the Fiji waters.”

Three different areas will be explored in the far extents of Fiji’s Exclusive Economic Zone and the Institute claims it’s environmentally safe.

Fiji is the second country in the World to issue such a license.
