February 18, 2018 7:22 pm

Damage assessments from the devastation caused by TC Gita last week will also be conducted in Ogea and Fulaga in Southern Lau even though there was less damage in these islands.

A government delegation is on its way to the Southern Lau group to conduct assessments and provide the assistance needed.

Divisional Planning Officer Eastern, Viliame Kainiyabia says Ogea and Fulaga will only be given assistance after the assessments have been completed by agriculture officials.

He says food rations and assistance will be distributed mostly to the four villages of Ono-I-Lau.

“Okay Its Ono and Vatoa because this is where the Cyclone Gita path is on based on the information provided by the Turaga Ni Koro and Mata ni Tikina whereas the other islands the giving of rations will depend on the reports from the agricultural officials.”

More than sixty government officials are part of the delegation who have been also tasked to hold consultations with villagers.
