Cyprus Nationals facing multiple charges to take plea next month

Two Cyprus nationals facing multiple counts of money laundering charges will take plea next month.

Loizos Petridis and Cleanthis Petridis are charged with 293 counts of money laundering and obtaining property by deception.

It is alleged the two conducted multiple transactions involving 400 foreign cards at BSP ATMs between 12th and 19th December last year.

It is alleged when police raided their apartment last year, they discovered fraudulent identity cards, plastic cards, ATM writer and reader machines and more than $173,000 cash believed to be the proceeds of the crime.

It is also alleged the CCTV footage showed the fraudulent transaction being committed at various BSP ATMS.

The sophisticated crime was allegedly committed by the two shortly after arriving in the country.

The prosecution today informed the court they have filed information in court.

The defence counsel sought another date for plea.

The matter has been adjourned to June 4th.
