Today marks the beginning of the 2012-2013 cyclone season.
The Meteorology Office in Nadi has predicted seven to ten cyclones for the region with two expected to hit Fiji.
Permanent Secretary for Public Utilities, Commander Francis Kean inspected the Nadi Weather Office this morning.
Commander Kean says he is pleased to see that the meteorology department is on par as we head into the cyclone season.
He says with the integration of the Hydrology flood unit within the Department of Meteorology it will help in issuing flood warnings to the public.
The cyclone season is from November 1st to April 30th.
