Customers urged to be vigilant: Consumer Council

Customers should not get carried away by advertisements during this festive season.

Consumer Council chief executive, Premila Kumar, has urged customers to be more vigilant

“I think the consumers, the first thing they need to do is simply don’t trust, just don’t trust and I think trust is the factor that puts them into a very difficult situation, second reason is that they are shy, they are not opening up to the trader and simply asking all the questions or saying what they should be saying and these two things leads them into trouble.”

Kumar says customers should take their time and make sure that goods are in good condition before buying them

She adds customers should also report traders who fail to follow the laws of trading
