The Education Ministry will soon introduce a curriculum for Early Childhood Education in the country.
This comes after a framework that was put together by fifteen island developing states in the region, including Fiji, in Nadi yesterday.
A team from UNESCO, the education ministry and education institutions in Fiji and the region put their ideas together for this curriculum.
Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says early childhood education is very important to prepare students to higher education levels.
“It is a very critical place because it provides a trajectory point for children from home to school. Is taking place. That is a place where a great opportunity to identify a lot of issues that children may face.”
He says it is important to develop skills for children at that early age.
