Crushing at the Labasa Sugar Mill has started
Crushing at the Labasa Sugar Mill has started despite the lack of cane supply.
Fiji Sugar Corporation CEO Graham Clark says they will crush when supply comes.
Speaking at the opening of the crushing season this afternoon, Clark says they have identified the deficiencies at the Mill and they’ve set up a programme to address it.
He adds, with new equipment at the mills, they’re expecting a much better production.
Chief Guest, Tui Labasa Ratu Jone Qomate says the sugar industry is still as relevant now as it was decades ago when Fiji relied on the industry.
Ratu Jone says he is hopeful of a good season with minimal disruptions to the mill.
