The government has sent out a strong message for youth to change their path in life amidst the ever-increasing rate of social problems.

While officiating at the 2019 National Youth Conference, Youth and Sports Minister Parveen Kumar says these problems include teenage pregnancies, suicide, sexual assault; physical and cyberbullying, sexual harassment, unemployment and mental health to name a few.

Kumar says the government views youths as agents of change.

“Change, my dear friends, change is inevitable. To progress, we must change. We must change our mindset, change our attitude, change our approach and re-align our focus on major issues affecting our community and our country.”

Kumar says infrastructural developments and upgrades, new initiative and policies, all these have been done to benefit the ordinary Fijians and to move the country forward.

Youths have also been urged to play their part by changing their mindsets in order to progress.
