Two police officers charged for drug related offences

Two police officers have been interdicted without pay for their alleged involvement in drug related activities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says the two officers have been charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one count of in possession of controlled chemical and equipment.

It is alleged the two officers were found with the illicit substances later confirmed to be marijuana in Lautoka on Monday.

They will be produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court today.

DCP Tudravu says they have a zero-tolerance policy against officers involved with drugs.

He says any officer found breaching the laws will be removed from the force, face criminal charges as well as internal disciplinary processes.
