Two arrested for attempted robbery

Quick action by officers at the Nasinu Police Station and officers on duty at the Police Special Response Unit resulted in the arrest of two men for their alleged involvement in a robbery.

The arrests were made at the Hanson Supermarket Complex in Nasinu this morning.

A call was received through Crime Stoppers that two men were allegedly seen breaking into the supermarket complex after 3am.

Two officers who were on guard at the Police Special Response Unit were asked to assist, whereby they quickly got into the private car belonging to one of the officers as it was parked nearby and attended to the report.

The Taskforce team were also alerted and arrived shortly afterwards.

Upon arrival, they managed to arrest the first suspect, an 18-year-old who allegedly had in his possession a bag containing assorted liqour.

The second suspect a 20-year-old was arrested later by the Taskforce team after he allegedly jumped from the first floor of the building.

The two remain in custody as the investigation continues.
