Over 18, 700 drivers booked for various traffic offences

Over eighteen thousand seven hundred drivers were penalized for various offences during the festive season Police Traffic Operations.

The operation which began on December 1st and ended last Tuesday saw majority of drivers being booked for speeding, careless driving, failure to produce driver’s license and not wearing seat belts.

Director Traffic, SSP Mahesh Mishra says it is concerning to note that in just over a month – over nine thousand eight hundred drivers were charged for speeding.

Over seven hundred drivers coped fines for careless driving whereas over two hundred and fifty-three were penalized for not wearing seat belts.

Over two hundred and thirty drivers were also booked for failing to produce a driving license while eighty-four were caught driving with an expired license.

SSP Mishra is warning drivers that they will continue to penalize those caught violating traffic rules.
