Nine in custody following separate drug raids

Nine people are in custody following separate drug operations around the country.

Police confirms two men were arrested on Koro Island in the last two days.

A 27-year-old man was allegedly found with 1.3 grams of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and a 30-year-old-man was allegedly found with a green plant weighing 738.1grams also believed to be marijuana.

In the second incident a 46-year old man was arrested in Malolo Island yesterday after he was allegedly found to be in possession of 16 plants believed to be marijuana wrapped in a black plastic while a 23-year-old man was allegedly found with 34 sachets of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

In the Northern Division a 36-year-old farmer of Qelewaqa was allegedly found with a clear plastic bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

In the Western division, Police raided a farm in Keiyasi, Sigatoka and uprooted 1, 050 green plants alleged to be marijuana.

Police are trying to find the owner of the farm.

Sigatoka Police conducted search on a vehicle and the driver was allegedly found with a plastic containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana with $115.

Meanwhile, two men were arrested in Ba yesterday.

A 36-year-old market vendor was allegedly found with 89 bullets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana which was wrapped in aluminum foil and packed in a black bag and a 29-year-old farmer of Vadravadra village, Ba was allegedly found with one roll of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

Police also searched a taxi and allegedly found a clear plastic containing crystals and a clear plastic containing white powder.

All suspects are in police custody and drugs have been sent for analysis.
