More seizures of marijuana and hard drugs made this week

Drug raids continue throughout the four policing divisions with more seizures of marijuana and hard drugs made this week.

In the Eastern Division, a man in his 30s was arrested on Thursday at his home in Narocivo Village, Rewa when he was found in possession of a plastic bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

In another case, a man in his 30s was arrested along Koronivia road on Friday following the alleged discovery of a small box containing 3 clear plastic bags of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine.

The suspect was pursued by officers from Nausori as he was seen to be acting in a suspicious manner.

He remains in custody as the substances have been sent for analysis.

Meanwhile, in the Western Division, a woman is in police custody after a clear white container with loose dried leaves believed to be marijuana was found on her at Yarolevu Village, in Malolo Island.

She remains in custody as investigation continue.

Another report also on Malolo Island, resulted in the seizure of 25 sachets of dried leaves wrapped in aluminum foil suspected to be marijuana.

A man in his 20s is in custody at the Nadi Police Station.

Whereas, in the third incident reported on Malolo Island, a man in his 30s is in custody following the discovery of a jar containing up to 100 sachets of dried leaves wrapped in aluminum foil believed to be marijuana.

Earlier in the week 5 men from Qerelevu in Ba were charged and produced in court following five separate raids.

Seizures of plants and dried leaves were made during the raids which were all tested positive as marijuana.

The Fiji Police Force is thankful to members of the public who continue to provide information about those involved in the drug trade as it has resulted in the successful raids conducted to date.
