Police officers part of a special drug operation have uprooted 600 kilograms of marijuana plants from Raikiraki Village in Kadavu.
Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho yesterday led a team to Kadavu to meet officers who have been in Kadavu for the past two weeks.
The Commissioner commended the work carried out by the 11 officers and also thanked the community for their support in guiding officers to the plantations.
Director Operations, ACP Maretino Qiolevu says the estimated value of the seizure is $2.3 million.
“Investigation is carried out to try and find the cultivators but as for investigation of such magnitude we can’t leave any stones un-turned – they only we can determine or make arrests.”
The plants were transported back to Suva onboard the police vessel M.V Veiqaravi.
