A 19-year-old villager from Kadavu has been sentenced to two years imprisonment, suspended for three years.

The teenager was found guilty of one count of defilement of a young person.

The court heard the 15-year-old girl who was his girlfriend, at the time of the offense, became pregnant.

The alleged offense occurred between December 2017 and January last year.

The defense told the court that his client is willing to look after the child and also took an early guilty plea.
