Five in custody for separate drug cases

A 17-year-old is in custody at the Rakiraki Police Station after he was found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Police say after further questioning,  the suspect led officers to his farm in Nanukuloa, Nalawa in Ra where more than 40 plants believed to be marijuana were seized.

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man of Lautoka is in custody after he was found with two plastics of dried leaves wrapped in foil believed to be marijuana.

Police apprehended the man during a snap roadblock check conducted at the Lomolomo Community Post yesterday.

Further search conducted at his home in Vuda Point resulted in the seizure of more rolls of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

In the Southern Division three men are in custody at the Nasinu Police Station after they were stopped at a roadblock last night.

Police confirm that the three were traveling in a taxi and a search conducted by officers resulted in the seizure of a pouch containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana and $3,000 cash.

The three from Mokani Village in Tailevu remain in custody.

All the seized substances have been sent for analysis.
