21 police officers charged for serious crime last year: ODPP

Twenty-one police officers were among the 783 people who were charged for serious crimes last year.

Statistics released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions reveals that a total of 783 people were charged with a total of 897 separate counts of serious crime offences.

These people were charged for various offences including murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, theft, and assault and trafficking in persons and other offences.

ODPP says 72 people who were charged were under the age of 18 years.

There were 564 victims of the 897 separate serious offences.
