A two-year-old child was allegedly murdered by her mother and the partner on Tuesday.

The victim was lying unconscious in their Nakasi home and was found by her mother.

She was rushed to the Valelevu health center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post-mortem was conducted where the cause of death revealed the child had sustained serious injuries resulting in her death.

Upon further inquiry, investigators discovered the child’s 20-year-old mother and her 28-year-old partner had allegedly been fighting on the night the child was found.

It is alleged that the child was caught in the middle of the dispute and was allegedly assaulted.

The couple has been charged with murder and will be produced at the Nasinu Magistrates court tomorrow.
