WAF employee in court for bribery charges

An employee of the Water Authority facing corruption related charges appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

WAF Team Leader Integrated Meter Manager Fred Fuakilau is charged by FICAC with one count of Bribery.

He is alleged to have accepted $1001 from the Director of Sphynx Solutions Pty Ltd between September 2016 and April 2017.

FICAC lawyer informed the court that first phase disclosures have been served and asked for strict bail conditions.

Defence Counsel requested that the Stop Departure Order be temporarily lifted to allow his client and his wife to travel to New Zealand to help his wife settle in.

Chief Magistrate, Usaia Ratuvili allowed the temporary suspension upon payment of a $2000 cash bail bond by the accused, releasing him on bail.

The accused was also ordered to report to FICAC office every Monday and Friday from January 7th 2019.

The matter has been adjourned to January 22nd next year.
