Rajiv Padhyachi

The trial of a former military officer, Rajiv Padhyachi, charged with attempted murder will continue in the Suva High Court today.

Padhyachi took the stand and told the court that he was never in a relationship with the complainant.

He told the court that after not agreeing to have a relationship with the complainant, he was being pressured to return the money he had borrowed.

Padhyachi also stated that he was engaged at that time and had cleared this with the complainant.

The court heard that the complainant and Padhyachi spent time going out for dinners and for drinks.

Padhyachi also stated that the loan amount totalled to $82,000 and he has cleared off $35,000.

Padhyachi will be cross-examined today.
