The trial of a handyman of a daycare centre in Suva, charged with one count of rape will begin next month.

38-year-old, David Ali is alleged to have raped a three-year-old girl who attended the center, where Ali was employed.

It’s alleged the offence occurred in August, last year when the accused called the victim to a secluded area at the school premises and indecently assaulted her.

The matter was reported by the victim’s mother after the young girl complained of genital pain.

The state will be calling in five witnesses for the trail.

The state also told the court that they will be using the child room during the trial to interview the victim.

The case will be recalled on April 8th to fix a trial date.
