Trial date to be fixed for alleged foreshore murderer

The 20-year-old man alleged to have murdered a tertiary student at the Suva foreshore last year appeared at the Suva High court for mention today.

Saula Temo is alleged to hit 23-year-old Akuila Salavuki with a piece of timber that caused his death on May 17th last year.

The deceased was found lying in a pool of blood by two men the next day.

In court today, the defence informed the high court Judge they were not able to meet and brief their client during the festive season, however, were only able to do so last week.

The court has instructed Temo to re-appear on March 4th to fix a trial date.
